ISABELLE SKILLEN | INTEGRATED HUMANITIES FACULTY

Isabelle brings a passion for interdisciplinary learning and student-centered teaching to her role as Humanities Teacher at Heritage Academy. She holds a B.A. in Sociology with a minor in Psychology from Gordon College—fields she was drawn to for their breadth, complexity, and integration of disciplines. For Isabelle, understanding human behavior means drawing from art, literature, history, faith, political science, and science itself—a vision that continues to shape her approach to teaching.

She spent four years teaching at the Waring School, where she led a wide range of Humanities courses including history, English literature, creative and analytical writing, philosophy, political science, and art history. Her classroom is a place of dynamic exchange, where students are invited to ask big questions, explore complex ideas, and make connections across time, culture, and discipline.

Outside the classroom, Isabelle finds rest and joy in the rhythms of making. She is an avid crafter—most often knitting intricate sweaters or stuffed animals, and recently experimenting with spinning and weaving. She also loves to bake, and can often be found trying ambitious recipes like chocolate croissants, French macarons, or elaborate birthday cakes! In the summer, she’s at the beach as often as possible, often with a novel in hand.

She looks forward to helping lay the foundation of Heritage Academy in its founding year.
